Broken Women In The Church

The Church has broken women – and maybe this is right where we need to be for Christ to have His way with us.

Through the teachings of various conferences, Bible studies, events, etc. There is always a recurring theme … the “Proverbs 31 Woman”. If it isn’t the main message, it is the butt of the joke … this has been widely used to exalt her strength, dignity, and position in the home and business.  And there is a flawed message being sent, that we ladies need to be a certain way in order to function as a woman of God.

Many, many, many years I have spent in the Church, in women’s Bible studies, women’s conferences, women’s events, and private conversations … and these are just a few things I’ve heard:

“Gotta keep it together…”

“Oh, I can’t cry right now…”

“Stay strong for them…”

“Fear is a sin, can’t give in to it…”

Ladies !! We must STOP it here. We just can’t live like this anymore. KNOW THIS & Be deeply encouraged.

“And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:11‬

YOU can stop trying to hold everything together. Jesus goes before you and holds everything together.

"And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together." Colossians 1:17

YOU can cry. Weep. Just let it all out.

Jesus hears our prayers, and He sees our tears and He heals us.

“Turn back, and say to Hezekiah the leader of my people, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord ..." 2 Kings 20:5

YOU can be weak – You don’t have to be strong.

Remember, it is only through our weakness that He is glorified.

"But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me." 2 Corinthians 12:9

When we are weak, Christ can do His work in and through us. We are not the champions, He is. He gets all the power and glory whenever we do something that makes us feel strong.

Look to gain spiritual strength through Christ. Prepare your heart and mind to receive His Word, proclaim the Gospel, build your relationship with Christ, and flourish in Him.

YOU are NOT enough . . . And this is the point!

Jesus is enough. He is your everything. He fills you up and completes you. He is your source. He is your validation. He is your comfort. He is your peace, joy, truth, love, guidance, confidence, assurance, strength … EVERYTHING !!

"Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all." Colossians 3:11

YOU can be afraid. It is ok to have this emotion.

Fear is a scary thing all by itself. Adding stuff to that fear makes it even worse. God instills these emotions into us so that we will run to Him. It is what we do in our moments of fear that can cause us to sin.

If you’re afraid, surrender to Him. Pray. Don’t overthink. Just give it all to Him, seek wise council with mature believers that you trust, and ask for help – if the situation allows for it.

Remember ladies, YOU ARE NOT ALONE !!

Most importantly You have Christ – always. Through His Word, He speaks. Through prayer, you can talk with Him. But always reach out – I am here. Your friends and family are there for you. You are never alone.

Be vulnerable. Recognize your brokenness, your weakness, and your flaws. If you are always trying to put yourself together, how can Christ heal and restore you?

"But she came and l knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” Matthew 15:25
